Welcome! I'm so glad you've made it here.

Kick back, get comfortable, and let’s enjoy the journey together!

My name is Krista Snyder and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. I am passionate about mental health issues and recovery and I love to share that passion with others.

Lately, discussions about mental well-being have flooded social platforms, which unfortunately has spread misleading ideas and questionable guidance. At the same time, more individuals are turning to artificial intelligence (AI) programs for pseudo-therapeutic support- which it is not.

That's part of why I wanted to create this blog.

As a counselor, I believe that mental health conversations should be approachable, honest, grounded in compassion, and accessible. Financial and transportation barriers should not limit someone from getting the mental health guidance and education they deserve.

What Can You Expect From This Blog?

Think of this as a space for real-life conversations about mental health, relationships, personal growth, and everything in between. I embrace discussing sensitive or taboo subjects, as every reader seeking validation deserves open discussion and visibility. You deserve to feel “seen”.

(I’ll take recommendations for topics!)

I'll be sharing information, reflections, and practical ideas about topics that affect so many of us, including:

  • Anxiety and stress: Understanding what's happening beneath the surface and finding healthier ways to cope.

  • Depression and feeling stuck: Exploring those times when life feels heavy and figuring out how to take small steps forward.

  • Addiction and recovery: Challenging stigma, discussing treatment options, and recognizing that recovery can look different for everyone.

  • Relationships and couples counseling: Exploring communication, boundaries, connection, and the patterns that can make relationships complicated.

  • Personal growth and self-discovery: Learning to understand ourselves, recognize our strengths, and make choices that align with the lives we want to live.

  • Topics suited for other Counselors and Mental Health Providers.

My hope is that you'll find something here that makes you think, helps you feel understood, or gives you a new perspective to consider.

Posts will be weekly, on Tuesdays (more often if the inspiration strikes!). You might find a practical coping strategy one week and a question that encourages you to look at something differently the next. Sometimes, growth begins with learning something new. Other times, it begins with being willing to ask ourselves an honest question.

Introducing Funky Friday!

I also want to make sure we have fun here! Because mental health conversations don't always have to be serious, I'm also planning a weekly feature called Funky Friday!

As someone who deeply loves and creates art, I’m excited to share how creative expression can be woven into your self-care routine. My goal is to offer a space where you can discover new artistic works or gain a fresh perspective on pieces you already know and love. Whether it is exploring new music, discovering a thought-provoking movie, or spotlighting local artists; sharing creative media offers an inviting way to head into the weekend.

Each Friday, I'll explore music and or art works connected by a real life theme. We'll look at the messages behind the pieces and connect them to topics like relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, healing, boundaries, addiction recovery, and personal growth.

Some weeks might be reflective. Others might be upbeat, surprising, or even a little fun.

The goal is to use something familiar and enjoyable as a starting point for meaningful conversations about ourselves and our lives.

A Little About My Approach to Counseling

My approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that every person has value and deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

The “blank-slate” counselor of the past is outdated. We are human beings before we can ever be counselors. Who I am as a human being enters the counseling room first. My education, my professional knowledge, and my experience lead you to send the first message. Leaving the office feeling like a person that matters means more than any amount of education ever could.

I don't believe people can be reduced to a diagnosis, a difficult experience, a past decision, or a chapter of their lives they'd rather leave behind. We all have stories that shape us. We all develop ways of coping with the world around us. And sometimes, the things that once helped us get through a difficult situation no longer serve us in the same way.

Counseling can be an opportunity to explore those experiences, understand ourselves more deeply, and discover new possibilities. It isn't about becoming a completely different person or meeting someone else's expectations. It's about creating space to understand who you are, what matters to you, and what you want your life to look like.

Growth isn't always comfortable, and change doesn't happen overnight. But with curiosity, support, and a willingness to explore, we can begin to recognize patterns, build new skills, and make room for meaningful change.

Wherever You Are in Your Journey, You're Welcome Here

Maybe you're considering counseling for the first time. Maybe you're already doing the work and looking for new ways to understand yourself. Maybe you're supporting someone you love and want to learn more about what they're experiencing. Maybe you are looking for something that finally reflects your experience.

Whatever brought you here, I hope this blog offers something useful.

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from learning about mental health. You don't have to have all the answers to begin asking questions. And you don't have to navigate every challenge perfectly to make progress.

Sometimes, the first step is simply being curious enough to learn something new.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey. I'm looking forward to sharing these conversations with you.

Here's to growth, healing, self-discovery, and learning to give ourselves—and each other—a little more understanding along the way.

If you're interested in exploring whether counseling might be helpful for you, I invite you to learn more about my services and the support I offer.
